Teaching English Grammar in Tajik secondary schools A.Boimatov, K.Usmonov Key words and expressions: Reproductive, non-reproductive, product, skill-getting, skill-using The article deals with communication based grammar teaching technique in Tajik secondary schools. Three stages of teaching English grammar should be distinguished: presentation, practice and product. By presentation we understand introducing the structure and meaning of a grammatical item by means of functional approach. By practice we mean performing chiefly communication based grammar exercises. By product we presuppose the use (utilization) of grammar structures in natural communicative activities, i.e. the learners are given no specific instructions to use the structure learnt. Great attention should be paid to practical activities on the psychological conception put forward by W.Rivers: skill-getting, skill-using. Skill-using starts from motivation to communication. Motivation gives a rise to reception and expression. Both these phenomena cause interaction of communicants. In order to realize all these activities in teaching Tajik pupils English abundant samples of practical activities regarding the grammar items to have and Past Simple have been illustrated.
